In July 1962, Kathy Whitworth won the Kelly Girls Opens, her first of 88 victories. When she won the Lady Michelob in 1982, she eclipsed Mickey Wright’s previous record of 82 career victories. Throughout her career, she also won six majors.

The United Virginia Bank Classic in 1985 was where Kathy Whitworth earned her last triumph. Kathy Whitworth handily defeated Wimbledon singles winner Billie Jean King to win the Associated Press Female Athlete of the Year award in 1965 and 1967.

She received seven LPGA Player of the Year awards over eight years (1966 through 1973).

Kathy Whitworth’s lifelong partner Bettye Odle stated that she passed away on Christmas Eve, December 24, 2022. Age-wise, she was 83.
Whitworth’s cause of death was not disclosed by Bettye Odle; she simply said that he passed away unexpectedly Saturday night while celebrating with family and friends.

“Kathy left this world the way she lived her life loving, laughing, and making memories,” In a statement to the LPGA Tour, Odle remarked.
