Karlie Redd was born Keisha Lewis, in New York, on April 15, 1974. She stated that she was always traveling between New York and Trinidad, as her mother hailed from there.
Karlie Redd was always interested in acting and dancing. She started actively pursuing her passion at the age of 12 when she permanently moved back to New York. Later, she developed her skills by attending and graduating from The Harlem School of Arts and then the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater.
