Karen Anne Carpenter was an American vocalist and drummer who was half of the Carpenters with her older brother Richard. She was born on March 2, 1950. Her coworkers were impressed by her vocal abilities, which encompassed a three-octave contralto range.
Carpenter’s years-long battle with anorexia, and eventual death from heart failure as a result of it, raised awareness of eating disorders and body dysmorphia, as well as the possible causes.
