Kara Wang is a Los Angeles-based Chinese American actress.
She is best known for her roles in Shanghai Calling (2012), The Calm Beyond (2020), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022).
Kara Wang is a Chinese American actress from Los Angeles. She is fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and the Hangzhou dialect. She can also read and write both traditional and simplified Chinese. Kara began performing when she was 6 years old and participated actively in show choir and theater throughout elementary, middle, and high school. Her first agent was signed when she was 15 years old.
University of California, Irvine awarded Kara her BA in theater. She signed a contract with a talent agency in Asia after graduating with a global deal. Throughout the years 2010 to 2015, Kara lived in Beijing and Hong Kong. During that time, she appeared in over 20 Chinese film and television productions, including Caught in the Web, directed by renowned Chinese director Chen Kaige. Kara moved back to Los Angeles in 2015. She can be seen in recurring roles on Freeform’s Good Trouble and Amazon’s Goliath. She’ll next be seen in the highly anticipated sequel Top Gun: Maverick.
