Kanye West is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer and fashion designer. Born in Atlanta and raised in Chicago, West initially gained recognition as a producer for Roc-A-Fella Records in the early 2000s, producing singles for several artists and developing the “chipmunk soul” sampling style. One of the most polarising icons of current popular culture, Kanye West periodically makes the headlines for some of the craziest things imaginable.
From announcing his intentions to run for the position of the President of the United States to claiming that slavery was a choice, Kanye has emerged as one of the most prominent provocateurs of the world. Over the course of his trailblazing career, Kanye has compared himself to a number of pioneers to prove that he is “the voice of this generation”.
