Julie A. Su, an American lawyer who was born on February 19, 1969, has been the country’s deputy secretary of labour since 2021.
She held the positions of California Labor Secretary under Governor Gavin Newsom and Director of the Division of Labor Standards Enforcement (DLSE) under Governor Jerry Brown prior to taking the position in question.
Since Marty Walsh’s resignation from the position on March 11, 2023, she has been acting as secretary of labour. Su was formally nominated by President Joe Biden in February 2023 to occupy the seat on a permanent basis.
