Julie Powell passed away on October 26, 2022, she is often recognized as the brains behind the 2005 book Julie & Julia: 365 Days, 524 Recipes, 1 Tiny Apartment Kitchen, which was based on her blog, the Julie/Julia Project. Julie & Julia, a movie based on her book, was released in 2009. Cleaving: a Story of Marriage, Meat, and Obsession, her second book, was released in 2009.

Powell was conceived by John and Kay Foster on April 20, 1973. Jordan Foster was the name of her brother. Her upbringing was in Austin, Texas. She earned a double major in theater and creative writing from Amherst College in 1995.

In August 2002, Powell started the Julie/Julia Project, a blog on Salon that documents her endeavor to prepare every dish in Julia Child’s Mastering the Art of French Cooking. Powell was working at the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation at the time.

Julie Powell did not have any known disease, however, she passed away on October 26 at their home in Olivebridge, upstate New York, from a cardiac arrest brought on by a heart arrhythmia, her husband, Eric Powell, revealed to the New York Times.
