Julian Hart Robertson Jr. KNZM, an American billionaire hedge fund manager and philanthropist, lived from June 25, 1932, to August 23, 2022.

Robertson made investments in other hedge funds, primarily in ones that were operated by ex-workers of Tiger Management, his own now-defunct hedge fund firm.

In New Zealand, where he spends some time, he is also engaged as a developer and investor. His family owns multiple wineries in addition to three lodges: Kauri Cliffs Lodge near Matauri Bay in Northland; Matakauri Lodge Queenstown; and The Farm at Cape Kidnappers, Hawkes Bay.

It was revealed in 2009 that Robertson would give the Auckland Art Gallery works of art worth $115 million.

The largest of its kind in Australasia, the contribution comprised pieces by Paul Cézanne, Paul Gauguin, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Piet Mondrian, Salvador Dali, Georges Braque, André Derain, Fernand Léger, Pierre Bonnard, and Henri Fantin-Latour.

A $27 million grant from Robertson was given to the New York Stem Cell Foundation in May 2010 to support its research.

Julian Robertson’s wife Josephine Tucker Robertson passed away on June 8th, 2010, following a protracted battle with breast cancer.
