A former prosecutor and Manhattan family court judge, Judith Susan Sheindlin (born October 21, 1942) is an American court show arbitrator, media personality, television producer, author, and philanthropist for women’s empowerment.

She is also known professionally as Judge Judy.

From September 16, 1996, to July 23, 2021, Sheindlin acted as Judge Judy in her top Nielsen-rated court show for 25 seasons.  Sheindlin entered the Guinness World Records in 2015 for being the longest-serving television arbitrator in the history of courtroom-themed programming.
For her efforts, she was awarded a Lifetime Achievement Emmy in 2019.
