
The third president of Kenya, Mwai Kibaki, passed away at the age of 90. He served as the President of Kenya from December 2002 to April 2013.
President Uhuru Kenyatta confirmed his death in a televised address to the nation. “As a leading figure in Kenya’s post-independence history, Mwai Kibaki earned the abiding respect and affection of the people of this nation and other nations throughout the world,” the President said in his address to the nation.
The president has also ordered that flags be flown at half-mast from Friday, April 22, 2022, until the day of his burial.
He is survived by his four children; Judy Wanjiku, Jimmy Kibaki, David Kagai, and Tony Githinji.

Judy Kibaki is the daughter of Mwai Kibaki and his wife Lucy Muthoni Kibaki. Muthoni and Kibaki got met in 1959 and got married in 1961.
They have four children together. Muthoni passed away at the age of 80 on 26 April 2016.
