Joyce Bawah Mogtari writes on Cecilia Dapaah’s case

For years we have maintained that John Mahama was the victim of political disinformation and extreme prejudice, unfortunately led by a man whose life’s work was to become president.

He could only achieve this by toppling his predecessor, Nana Akufo-Addo, a great man and a fiercely patriotic Ghanaian who had been referred to as his friend and a good cross-party collaborator in parliament.

Do you recall the Ford vehicle incident and the allegations of corruption made against Mr. Mahama by the NPP? I should also mention the “scandal” surrounding the bus branding, which again provoked strong accusations, large-scale demonstrations, and condemnations from the NPP and Akufo-Addo, the party’s nominee at the time.

These are two noteworthy instances of how bribery and corruption were utilized as political tools to support the assertion that the NDC and its leaders had the necessary skills to run the nation’s affairs.

It is important to remember that although Akufo Addo and Bawumia are in power today, none of these statements have been supported by evidence. Ghanaians can see that their administration is corrupt and that they feel at ease surrounding themselves with corrupt people based on the acts and inactions of that government.

This NPP government’s degree of deceit and disdain for the Ghanaian people is unparalleled and completely unfathomable.

At a time when it was obvious that they were and are deeply involved in galamsey, this president pledged to risk his presidency to put an end to it. Given that the president himself ordered this work, Frimpong Boateng’s report makes this quite clear.

It is unnecessary to reiterate how the former Minister has been handled in the aftermath of the leaked report, as it is now public knowledge.

It is confirmed that members of the president’s team and government are responsible for the galamsey. Additionally, it has been proven that certain members of the NPP have been abusing expensive mining equipment without permission, depleting the state’s natural resources, and destroying our water bodies while Akufo Addo looks on indifferently.

This choice is absurd, and it’s hard for any of us to comprehend. The financial stakes are minimal in contrast to any purported accusations or assertions of corruption made against President Mahama.

In the end, the OSP has put an end to one of the worst scandals in history and provided this government with an unquestionable chance to demonstrate that it is willing and capable of combating corruption.

Akufo-Addo’s incapacity or desire to combat corruption with vigor has earned him the label of a clearing agent. His “dear,” Cecilia Dapaah, has been cleared, as he had predicted, and history will decide how much integrity she still possesses.

Numerous examples support Mr. Mahama’s strong stance against corruption. All of the accusations of corruption made against him during his first term were motivated by hate and a well-planned campaign to damage President Mahama’s impeccable reputation, spearheaded by the NPP, especially Akufo Addo and Bawumia.

Ghanaians ought to be indignant over the mishandling of their nation and take up the cause of reform to free their country from an unfit administration.
