Anti-corruption crusader and journalist Al Crespo noted for his expose piece concerning corruption in Miami is reported dead.
He died in his home at Miami Shores on August 16, 2022, at age 80.

Crespo was diagnosed with inoperable cancer in 2020 when the Covid 19 pandemic was raging on. He decided to retire from active duties and devote his time to cementing his legacy.
He bravely battled with his condition until he finally succumbed to the disease in 2022.

Crespo progressed from being a production assistant to line producing and production managing for nearly 100 TV commercials and dozens of music videos over the course of his more than 30 years in the South Florida film industry.

Police struck him in the head multiple times with rubber bullets while he was covering the Democratic Convention in Los Angeles in 2000.
In the federal lawsuit that established new standards for how police interact with the media during protests and rallies, he was named as the primary plaintiff.
