Former strongman, powerlifter, and actor Jouko Ahola were born in Finland on December 1st, 1970.
He is widely regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound strongmen in history, having won World’s Strongest Man twice and Europe’s Strongest Man twice.
Jouko is most known for his World’s Strongest Man titles in 1997 and 1999, as well as his second-place finish in 1998.
Ahola also won Europe’s Strongest Man in 1998 and 1999 and finished fourth in 1996. Jouko won World’s Strongest Team in 1997 and 1999 and finished second in 1998.
Ahola set world records in both the Atlas Stones and the Hercules hold (45.7 seconds, 197 kg) (215 kg).
Ahola’s concentration has switched from strongman to filmmaker. He’s appeared in the Kingdom of Heaven, Bad Day to Go Fishing, War of the Dead, and Invincible thus far.
In Werner Herzog’s 2001 film Invincible, Ahola portrayed early twentieth-century Jewish strongman Zishe Breitbart. Jouko plays a former world wrestling champion in Alvaro Brechner’s 2009 film Bad Day to Go Fishing. At the Cannes Film Festival, the film made its global premiere.
