A new story claims that the Celtics offered a Jaylen Brown-heavy trade package to the Nets in exchange for Kevin Durant, and Al Horford’s brother is calling that claim “bulls—t.”
Josh Horford responded to a tweet from Shams Charania of The Athletic on Monday by using the cap emoji, which denotes that something is untrue.
Charania claimed that Brooklyn rejected Boston’s offer and countered it by asking for more money in exchange for Durant.
Josh did not elaborate, but it appeared like he was alluding to an ESPN article from November 2021 that claimed the Celtics held a “emotional players-only meeting” as a result of Marcus Smart’s remarks about Brown and Jayson Tatum not passing the ball.
Brad Stevens, the Celtics’ head of basketball operations, claimed that Brown “was ‘untouchable’ a few months ago, Josh added in a tweet on Monday.
The 6-foot-6 guard tweeted “smh” when news of Boston shopping Brown to Brooklyn made headlines on Monday.
After the Celtics swept the Nets in their first-round playoff series in late June, Durant, who turns 34 in September, asked for a trade out of Brooklyn.
In August of last year, he agreed to a four-year, $198 million deal with the Nets. Brown has two years, in contrast.
