LA Galaxy head coach Greg Vanney has showered praises on Ghanaian forward Joseph Paintsil for his stellar performance in their 3-1 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps. Paintsil, who normally plays as a right winger, was deployed as a centre forward for parts of the match, a position not commonly played by him. However, Vanney was impressed by Paintsil’s smart movement and exceptional work rate in the game.
The 26-year-old was eventually moved back to his preferred right wing position, where he made an instant impact by scoring a goal and providing an assist. Vanney was full of admiration for Paintsil’s adaptability and contribution to the team.
“It’s not a position he’s played a ton of, but I thought his movement was smart. I thought his work rate was excellent,” said head coach Greg Vanney. “Then at the end of the game, we switched it. We put him back on the outside and moved Riqui to the middle and got him flying from the outside, which is where the goal came from.”
Since his arrival in the winter transfer window, Paintsil has been in fine form for La Galaxy, scoring three goals and providing three assists in just eight appearances. His versatility and attacking prowess have made him a key player for the team, earning praise from his coach and fans alike.
