Joseph Behar was a television director from the United States.

He was mostly known for directing Let’s Make a Deal, as well as the serials The Greatest Gift, First Love, From These Roots, Days of Our Lives, and General Hospital.

The five-time Daytime Emmy winner also collaborated with Ernie Kovacs in Philadelphia and on Let’s Make a Deal for over a decade.

Behar directed NBC’s Days of Our Lives for 22 years, beginning with the show’s initial airing in November 1965, and also directed the Monty Hall-hosted Let’s Make a Deal from 1963 to 1977, including the pilot.

Behar was born on September 30, 1926, in Harlem and reared in Long Beach, New York. He dropped out of Hofstra University in 1945 after being inducted into the United States Army.

While based in Japan, he founded a magazine for the military.

Behar, who also directed TV shows starring Ernie Kovacs when he was younger, died on June 26 at his home in Manhattan Beach.

He died at age 94.
