
Jorge Trias Sagnier was a Spanish lawyer and deputy for the PP in Congress who died on April 13, 2022.
He earned a legal degree before becoming treasurer of the Governing Board of the Madrid Bar Association.
Between 1975 and 1976, he worked as the Lliga de Catalunya’s Organizational Secretariat.
In 1977, he was an advisor to the Ministry of Justice on penal reform; and between 1983 and 1991, he was vice president of the Spanish Committee of the European League of Economic Cooperation.
He was a lawyer in the landmark case Violeta Friedman vs. León Degrelle, which compelled the criminal code to be altered to include anti-Semitism and xenophobia.
He was 73.
