Jorge Lavelli, a well-known character in the worlds of theater and opera, was born on November 11, 1932, in Buenos Aires. Beginning with his production of “The Marriage” in 1963, he made substantial contributions to the French theatrical landscape by presenting the works of Witold Gombrowicz to the French public. Gombrowicz’s plays were still staged by Lavelli, notably “Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy” in 1965 and “Operetta” in 1971.
