Jordan Ayew, a striker from Ghana, scored a fantastic goal in Crystal Palace’s Premier League match against Everton on Monday night at Goodison Park.
Despite his outstanding performance, the 30-year-old’s team was only able to draw 1-1 instead of winning.
Ayew’s flash of genius also included a thunderous shot into the far corner that rendered Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford useless. This excellent feature, however, marked his third goal of the season, adding to his contribution of five assists for Palace in the Premier League.
Amadou Onana of Everton equalized the score in the 84th minute with a late header, meaning that despite Ayew’s heroic efforts, Palace was unable to win. It appears that the draw drops Palace to 15th place in the table, while Everton moves up to 16th.
The match unfolded amidst managerial uncertainty for Palace, following Roy Hodgson’s resignation earlier in the day due to health reasons.
The job of leading the team moving forward has been assigned to Oliver Glasner, the former manager of Eintracht Frankfurt, who succeeded Hodgson.
Even though Palace could not win that evening, Ayew’s outstanding performance is a source of encouragement for the supporters as they adjust to the new leadership.
