One of America’s greatest modern songwriters, and a Grammy nominee Jon Lind has kicked the bucket.

The acclaimed ASCAP songwriter who has worked with a bunch of top American and foreign stars died on Saturday, January 15, 2022.

Jon Lind is credited for creating monster hits for Earth, Wind & Fire, Madonna and Vanessa Williams.

Among the hit songs he has written include Boogie Wonderland and Sun Goddess for Earth, Wind & Fire; Save the Best for Last for Vanessa Williams; and Crazy for You for Madonna, the latter two of which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Save the Best for Last was named ASCAP’s Song of the Year in 1992 and earned Grammy nomination for Song of the Year and Record of the Year in 1993.

He also co-wrote hits for Cher, Deniece Williams, Atlantic Starr, Aaron Neville, the Emotions, Rick Astley, and others.

Jon Lind’s attorney, Jeremy Rosen, confirmed that the songwriter died from cancer. He said he passed away after a two-year battle with cancer. He died at the age of 73.

Lind is survived by his wife, music executive Susan Drew; his daughters Jenny and Joanna; stepchildren Daniel D’Astuges and Catherine Jones; and three grandchildren.
