To John Bostic and Jacqueline Bostic, Bostic was born in Atlanta, Georgia. In the period between 1985 and 1987, his father played defensive back for the Detroit Lions. The family eventually moved to Wellington, Florida after his father left the NFL and earned his doctorate in pharmacy.
Bostic participated in football for the Palm Beach Central Broncos high school team while he was a student at Wellington’s Palm Beach Central High School. Justin and Jayla Bostic, who competed in track at the University of Florida, are Bostic’s two younger siblings.
Bostic was traded by the New England Patriots to the Detroit Lions on May 9, 2016, in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft choice. He battled Stephen Tulloch for the position of starting middle linebacker throughout training camp.
Bostic suffered a leg injury on August 2, 2016, while participating in a joint practice with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Bostic was put on injured reserve by the Detroit Lions on September 6, 2016, due to a foot injury. He was kept on injured reserve by the Detroit Lions for the entire 2016 campaign.
