Shatta Wale has no plans to join Ghana Music Awards scheme, says manager

The manager of Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has revealed that the artiste currently has no intentions of joining the Ghana Music Awards scheme.

In an interview on TV3’S New Day, Sammy Flex disclosed that Shatta Wale has not commenced any processes to join the scheme, although he has not ruled out a permanent return in the future.

“It is the process that would have to start and that process as I am saying has not started from our end. Maybe it’s not on top priority on our table at the moment,” Sammy Flex stated.

He further emphasized that at the moment, joining the VGMA is not part of their objectives and it is not something they are considering in the near future.

Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were banned indefinitely from participating in the VGMAs after an altercation between them disrupted the 2019 edition of the awards. The ban was later lifted in 2021, but while Stonebwoy has been filing nominations and participating in the scheme, Shatta Wale has stayed away.

Despite calls from fans to return to the award scheme, Shatta Wale has remained firm in his decision to boycott the awards. With the recent statement from his manager, it seems unlikely that Shatta Wale will be making a return to the Ghana Music Awards scheme anytime soon.
