The Minority in Parliament has extended an invitation to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to participate in the debate on the 2024 mid-year budget review. This review was presented by Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam on Tuesday, July 23.
According to the press statement issued by Deputy Minority Whip Ahmed Ibrahim on Wednesday, July 24, the debate is scheduled to begin on Thursday, July 25. The Minority believes that this forum will provide Dr. Bawumia with an opportunity to share his views on the economy and address the challenges Ghanaians are currently facing.
Parliamentary rules permit a sitting Vice President to take part in debates on the floor of the House, as highlighted by the statement. The NDC MPs emphasized that this debate will allow Dr. Bawumia to be held accountable for his tenure of over seven and a half years as Chairman of the Economic Management Team.
“The NDC Minority in Parliament is inviting Vice President Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia to participate in the debate of the Mid-Year Fiscal Policy Review of the 2024 Budget Statement and Economic Policy of the government of Ghana,” the statement read.
The debate is set to take place in the Parliamentary Chamber at 10 o’clock in the morning on Thursday, 25th July, 2024. This public invitation to the Vice President is based on his role as the Chairman of the Economic Management Team of the government.
