John X. Jamrich was a former president of Northern Michigan University (NMU).
He was born in Muskegon Heights, Michigan, but spent several years on a farm in his parents’ home Slovakia.
From 1968 through 1983, Jamrich served as NMU’s ninth president. He was commemorated by the naming of NMU’s main academic building.
