A singer, songwriter, and guitarist from the United States, John Clayton Mayer was born on October 16, 1977.

Mayer, who was brought up in Fairfield County, Connecticut, attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston before dropping out to join Clay Cook in Atlanta in 1997.

They collaborated to create the brief-lived two-man band Lo-Fi Masters.

Following their breakup, Mayer kept performing in neighborhood clubs, honing his craft and accumulating fans. Following his performance at the 2001 South by Southwest music festival, he was signed by Aware Records and later by Columbia Records, who issued his first extended play Inside Wants Out.

His two studio albums that came after that, Heavier Things (2003) and Room for Squares (2001), did well critically and financially and were certified multi-platinum.

For his track “Your Body Is a Wonderland,” which was released in 2003, he received the Grammy Award for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance.

Acting seems to be one of the artist’s many talents.
