John F. Kennedy Jr. and his wife, Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, tragically died in a plane crash in July 1999, along with her sister Lauren. A new book by Elizabeth Beller suggests that less than 48 hours before their untimely deaths, JFK Jr. cheated on his wife with his old girlfriend, Julie Baker.

The book details the tumultuous relationship between JFK Jr. and Carolyn, revealing that the couple had stopped sleeping together and were in couples therapy towards the end of their lives. Carolyn, a publicist for Calvin Klein, was reportedly on a steady diet of antidepressants, which affected her libido and desire to have children.

According to the book, JFK Jr. received a late-night visit from Julie Baker at the Stanhope Hotel in Manhattan, where he was staying after an argument with Carolyn. The following morning, JFK Jr. and Baker were seen having breakfast together at the hotel. The couple had dated in the past, and Baker was a model whom JFK Jr. had met in 1989.

Friend of JFK Jr., Sasha Chermayeff, stated that he assumed the encounter between JFK Jr. and Baker was sexually intimate, but never discussed it with JFK Jr. The book also reveals that shortly before the crash, JFK Jr. and Carolyn had dinner with TV host Christiane Amanpour and her husband, Jamie Rubin, where they discussed their plans to have children.

The book blames the marriage woes of JFK Jr. and Carolyn on a lack of sex and Carolyn’s use of antidepressants, which decreased her libido. However, the book strongly denies rumors that Carolyn herself cheated on her husband. MJ Bettenhausen, a friend of Carolyn, stated that she would not have jeopardized her marriage to JFK Jr.

Once Upon a Time: The Captivating Life of Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy is set to be published on May 21. The U.S. Sun reached out to Julie Baker for comment but did not receive a response.
