Irish Fine Gael politician John Connor is dead. He died on Saturday.

John Connor died in a road traffic collision in Frenchpark on January 27, 2024, at the age of 79.
John Connor was rushed to University Hospital Sligo by an Emergency service, where he was later pronounced dead. He is understood to have been the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle when the single-vehicle collision occurred on a local road.

Tribute has been passed on to John Connor. In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, local Fine Gael TD Frank Feighan said he was sad to hear of the passing of his party colleague, who was a native of Frenchpark.
Deputy Feighan said: “John was a man of huge integrity, a great orator, political wisdom, good company, and a great friend.”
Independent TD Denis Naughton said he was saddened to hear of Mr Connor’s passing and described him as a fountain of knowledge.
He said: “Saddened to hear of the passing of John Connor. I learned a lot from John over our years in Fine Gael.
“He was someone who cared passionately for rural Ireland. As an orator, John was the true successor to his neighbor James Dillon. May he RIP.”
