John Beasley was an American actor. He is most known for his appearances in the films Rudy (1993), The General’s Daughter (1999), The Sum of All Fears (2002), Walking Tall (2004), The Purge: Anarchy (2014), and Sinister 2 (2015), as well as Irv Harper in the successful television series Everwood (2002-2006).

Beasley established the “John Beasley Theater & Workshop” in Omaha, Nebraska in 2002 to promote live theater, particularly works written by or involving African-Americans.

In The Sum of All Fears, he played General Lasseter, and in The Apostle, he played Reverend C. Charles Blackwell. In the 1992 film The Mighty Ducks, he portrayed Jesse and Terry Hall’s father. He co-starred in the 2004 remake of Walking Tall alongside The Rock.

Beasley performed in multiple television movies and has countless guest appearances on television. In the WB series Everwood, he played Irv Harper. He also participated in the fifth and last season of TV Land’s sitcom The Soul Man, which aired in 2016.

John Beasley was an American actor who appeared in films, television, and theatre. He was nominated for four Primetime Emmy Awards and won one for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his role in the 2004 film “The Gospel.”

He was also nominated for three Tony Awards, winning one for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in the 1990 play “The Piano Lesson.”
