Joel Cox is an American film editor who was born on April 2, 1942.

He is most recognized for his work on more than 30 movies with Clint Eastwood.

Cox and Clint Eastwood originally collaborated on the 1976 film The Outlaw Josey Wales, when Cox assisted Ferris Webster. Cox and Webster collaborated as editors on The Gauntlet (1977) and several of Eastwood’s subsequent films. With the release of Sudden Impact in 1983, Cox took over as Eastwood’s primary editor.

Eastwood, according to Cox, has only recut one of Cox’s scenes throughout their 30-year cooperation. Gary D. Roach, Cox’s assistant since the mid-1990s, joined Cox as an editor on Eastwood’s films beginning with Letters from Iwo Jima (2006).
