Joe Turkel is an American character actor. He is best known for his roles in Stanley Kubrick’s films The Killing, Paths of Glory, and The Shining, as well as Dr Eldon Tyrell in Blade Runner. He also appeared in three of Bert I. Gordon’s films.

Turkel was born in Brooklyn, New York to Polish-Jewish immigrants. He joined the United States Army at the age of 16 and served in the European Theater of Operations during World War II.
