According to his daughter, Joe E. Tata, a veteran television actor best remembered for portraying the proprietor of the Peach Pit diner on the Fox series “Beverly Hills, 90210,” passed away on Wednesday.

He was 85.

She omitted the cause of death. According to the GoFundMe website, the actor was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in 2018.

According to a brief biography on the Internet Movie Database, Tata was born on September 13, 1936, in the New York City neighborhood of the Bronx.

According to IMDb, he made his small-screen acting debut on a 1960 episode of the detective show “Peter Gunn,” where he was credited as Joey Tata.

Tata appeared on a number of primetime shows in the decades that followed, generally for one or two episodes.

His most consistent acting role was on “Beverly Hills, 90210.” More than 200 episodes featured him.

A voicemail and text message seeking comment from Kelly Tata did not receive an instant response.

An email and call seeking comment from Richard W. Sharpe, the court-appointed lawyer who apparently oversees Tata’s conservatorship, went unanswered.
