João Gilberto who lived from June 10, 1931, to July 6, 2019, was a Brazilian guitarist, singer, and composer who was a pioneer of the bossa nova musical genre in the late 50s.
He was referred to as O Mito in his native Brazil which translates into The Legend in English.

Gilberto married twice whiles he was alive. Between 1959 and 1964 he was married to Astrud Weinert, a Brazilian samba and bossa nova singer.
They recorded The Girl from Ipanema, one of Gilberto’s hit songs together. Before they went their separate ways they were blessed with a son whom they named João Marcelo.
His second marriage was to the late Brazilian singer and composer Miúcha. They got married in 1965 and got divorced in 1971.
