Up to the time of her death, JoAnne Epps did not have any children on her own. collapsed and died during a tribute to historian Charles L. Blockson being held at Temple University. Epps received a B.A. from Trinity College in Hartford, Connecticut, and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
Epps was named as a potential Barack Obama Supreme Court candidate. Before becoming Temple’s provost, she served as dean of Temple University Beasley School of Law from 2008 to 2016.
In addition, Epps joined the Temple Law School as a faculty member in 1985 and then served as associate dean for academic affairs from 1989 to 2008. Before coming to Temple, Epps was an Assistant U.S. Attorney in Philadelphia and a deputy city attorney for the City of Los Angeles.
