Jim Seals, who co-wrote such 1970s soft-rock singles as “Summer Breeze,” “Diamond Girl,” and “We May Never Pass This Way Again” with fellow musician “Dash” Crofts, has died at the age of 80.

Several people, including John Ford Coley, who formed the 1970s duet England Dan and John Ford Coley with Seals’ older brother Dan, revealed his death on Tuesday.

Darrell and Seals George “Dash” Crofts and Glen Campbell were Texas natives who had known each other since they were kids and had previously been in the Champs, who had a smash song with “Tequila” before they joined, and a group that included George “Dash” Crofts.

They formed Seals and Crofts in the late 1960s and were part of a wave of soft-rock bands that included America, Bread, and England Dan and John Ford Coley during the next few years.

Mercer Funeral Home in Bluefield will host the body at 2:00 pm.

Burial will follow at Monte Vista Park Cemetery.
