Jesus Marias was regarded as one of Spain’s most prominent journalists. This well-known Spanish journalist died on Tuesday at the age of 79.

Diez Minutos magazine and the daily La Razón, with which he worked, both confirmed his death.

Marias was believed to have had bladder cancer, as he had informed himself six months before.

He was taken to the Ramón y Cajal hospital in Madrid at the end of March owing to complications from his sickness.

The material was relayed to several media outlets and Telecinco programs, a network with which the journalist was affiliated.

Marias lost his appetite and developed speech difficulties, according to the magazine Diez Minutos, in which he had a column.

He was married, to the Venezuelan photographer Elio Valderrama (55).

During all this time, Elio did not leave his side.

He was worth 7 million.
