On July 3, 1940, Gerald Joseph Blavat was born in the United States. He was a disc jockey and performer. The Geator with the Heater and The Big Boss with the Hot Sauce were other names for him. Blavat contributed significantly to the radio’s wide oldies music marketing. Italian and Jewish parents gave birth to Blavat in South Philadelphia.

By planning live dances, he established himself as a well-known local figure in the Philadelphia region before launching his own independent radio show. On this program in the 1960s, he introduced several musicians to a big audience, including The Four Seasons and The Isley Brothers.

On the original Bandstand on WFIL-TV in 1953, Blavat made his television debut alongside Lee Stewart and Bob Horn.
