
Jerry Allison was an American musician, best known as the drummer for the Crickets and co-writer of their hits “That’ll Be the Day” and “Peggy Sue”, recorded with Buddy Holly.
Jerry’s first professional recording was “Who’s Gonna Be the Next One Honey”, released by a local group, Hal Goodson and the Raiders. It was also performed at the Norman Petty studio in Clovis, New Mexico, about six months before “Peggy Sue” was recorded. Jerry passed on August 22, 2022, a few days before his 83rd birthday. Jerry was married to Peggy Sue Gerron. The two got married in the year 1958 when Jerry was 19 and Peggy was 18. Peggy was born in the year 1940 and died in 2018, however, the union between them lasted for about 6 years. During this period of togetherness as a couple, they had no children.
In 1964, the couple divorced and go their separate ways. It was said that Peggy later got married and had two children, however, none of such news was heard about Jerry. Per available records, Jerry died at 82, without any biological children.
