The famous Jung Joong Ji was a South Korean contestant and survival audition show and TV Personal who became known after joining Mnet’s Produce 101 Season 2.
During Produce 101, Joongji represented Wayz Company. However, he left the company in May of 2017, during the show. Produce 101 continued to label him as a Wayz trainee. He eventually joined Think Technique as a trainee. During the show, sexual assault allegations were voiced against Joongji. He eventually released a public apology and the accuser deleted their SNS posts.
After the show, Joongji came forward, stating that there was some bullying behind the scenes during the show. He claimed that Wanna One’s Yoon Jisung had bullied him multiple times. He also stated that they had eventually made up during the show.
Later, he posted on his SNS, asking people to stop messaging him with threats and rude comments. He mentioned that what he has said is true and that his company had made up the sexual assault scandal to make his name known, simultaneously ruining his career. Wayz Company sued Joongji for defamation against the company. On September 9th, 2022, it was announced by his mother on Twitter that he had taken his own life.
