Legendary lookalike Jeannette Charles, who rose to fame for her uncanny resemblance to Queen Elizabeth II, has sadly passed away at the age of 96. The star, who featured in hit movies such as The Naked Gun and Austin Powers, died surrounded by loved ones in a care home in Great Beddow, Essex.
Jeannette’s daughter, Carol Christophi, paid tribute to her mother, describing her as a real character and a force of nature. Despite initially struggling to launch her acting career due to her likeness to the Queen, Jeannette eventually found success in the entertainment industry as one of the best lookalikes.
In 1972, Jeannette’s life changed when a self-portrait commissioned as a gift for her husband was displayed at the Royal Academy in London. Spectators mistook the painting for a portrait of the Queen, leading Jeannette to become a screen sensation overnight. She went on to star in a variety of films and TV shows, perfecting her impersonation of the Queen’s voice.
Jeannette’s acting credits include roles in The Rutles, The Naked Gun, and Austin Powers. She continued to work in television and film until 2014, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the entertainment industry. Fans and loved ones will miss her dearly, as she was always respectful of the Queen and adored the Royal Family.
