Jayne Torvill is an English former Ice dancer who won a gold medal with her ice skating partner, Christopher Dean, at the Sarajevo Winter Olympics in 1984.
Jayne began her career at an insurance business. Her love, though, had been ice skating since she was a youngster.
In 1975, she teamed up with Christopher. The duo won the British national championship in 1978, earning them a sponsor. Soon after, they both quit their day jobs to pursue a full-time career in ice skating.
At the Sarajevo Winter Olympics in 1984, the couple won the gold medal and received a flawless 6.0 from each of the judges for artistic impression. The duo earned a bronze medal in the Lillehammer Winter Olympics in 1994.

In an interview with The Mirror in 2017, Jayne revealed that she would never forget her first asthma attack.
“I was suffering from severe hayfever, and the pollen count was unusually high, when I began to wheeze.” “I was gasping for air because I experienced shortness of breath, a tightness in my chest, and I was gasping for air,”.
“It was terrifying, so I rushed directly to the doctor, who diagnosed me with asthma and provided an inhaler.” In the years that followed, I began to suffer occasional episodes and discovered that skating exacerbated them.
The star uses medication to control the ‘frightening’ condition till this day.
