Jay Leno, born James Douglas Muir Leno is a famous American comedian, broadcaster, and actor.

From 1992 through 2009,  he served as the host of NBC’s The Tonight Show.

He was admitted to the Television Hall of Fame in 2014. He has been a host of  JayLeno’s Garage since 2014.

Leno’s father, Angelo who lived from 1910–1994 worked as an insurance salesman in New York where he was born.

His mother, who is also late, worked as a professional homemaker when she was alive. Leno’s mother immigrated from Greenock, Scotland where she was born to the United States with her family at the age of eleven.

Leno and his wife gave $100,000 to a cause in 2001 to eradicate gender segregation in Afghanistan and to inform people about the condition of women living there under the Taliban administration.

In 2009, he once again donated $100,000 to Salem State University’s Lennie Sogoloff Scholarship Fund in the latter’s honor. According to Leno Sogoloff gave him the first shot to perform in his jazz club when no one else would, hence the hefty donation.
