When it comes to artistes and fans connection in the Ghanaian entertainment industry, I can only point out two or three but what New York based Ghanaian Afro-pop star, Jay Ghartey has for one of his loyal fans has still left us in shock.

The “My Lady” hitmaker lost one of his fan during the June 3rd double disaster last year but didn’t receive the message earlier (though he heard of the disaster).

Jay Ghartey came to Ghana a few months ago and on hearing the news, he was depressed and sad but had a plan.

When the first anniversary of the disaster was marked in Accra on June 3, 2016, Jay Ghartey took to his Facebook page to write a heart-touching tribute to his late fan.

Jay Ghartey wrote: “RIP Paul Amenumey. We lost this brother last year at the disaster at Circle. A kind spirited guy i met through music whom I took this picture with many years ago. You are not forgotten bro. Our prayers are with your family today as it marks a year now.”

But that wasn’t all!

To show how he has been saddened and affected by the news, Jay sang a tribute to honour  his late fan. The simple guitar song is titled “Fire and Rain” and it sounds similar to his song about war called “Sounds of Violence”.

His late fan, Paul Amenumey who is from Tema Community 4, is a father of one beautiful daughter called Michelle,

This is the first time such an honour has happened in the entertainment industry and we hope his soul will rest in peace!

RIP Paul Amenumey.
