He was the Minister of Education of the Andalusian Government before his sudden demise. He died on Saturday, April 2. 2022 according to the statement released by his family.

Javier has been battling prostate cancer for close to six years now as he was diagnosed with cancer in 2016.
A few months back, Javier made a comment about his health that got many worried as he revealed that he was no longer thinking in years but rather in weeks as he knew his days on earth are numbered.
“I no longer think in years, but weeks,” Javier said.
