Javier Gonzales was an American politician who served as the 42nd mayor of Santa Fe from 2014 to 2018.

He held office as the Santa Fe County Commissioner for two terms.

He was the city’s first and only openly gay mayor. Playing a key role in the legalization of gay marriages in New Mexico.

Javier died of cancer on February 9, 2022, at the age of 56.
