Jason Verrett, a cornerback with the San Francisco 49ers in the National Football League, was born on June 18, 1991. In the first round of the 2014 NFL Draft, he was chosen by the San Diego Chargers. At TCU, he played collegiate football.
Verrett played football and ran track at B Gale Wilson Middle School and Angelo Rodriguez High School. He alternated between playing cornerback and running back in football. In both his junior and senior seasons, he was awarded Back of the Year for the offense. Verrett competed in the 100-meter dash event in track & field in 2007, setting a personal record of 11.87 seconds at the SCAC Finals.
Verrett chose to enroll in Santa Rosa Junior College after graduating from high school without receiving any scholarship offers. Verrett earned a spot on the first team of the 2010 conference awards while attending SRJC. Rivals.com rated him as a three-star prospect.
He attended TCU in 2011 and recorded 58 tackles. He had 63 tackles and a team-high six interceptions the next season. He was chosen for the first team of the Big 12. Sports Illustrated also named him an All-American.
