Jason Day’s father and mother, Dening and Alvin Day, are professional golfers. Jason was born in the Queensland town of Beaudesert.
Jason recently shared sad news on Instagram, explaining that his mother passed away after battling cancer for five years.

Jason’s father, Alvin, was an Irish Australian, and his mother, Dening, arrived in Australia from the Philippines in the mid-1980s.
When Day was eight years old, his family relocated to Rockhampton, and he began winning contests in the surrounding area.
Alvin Day died of stomach disease when Jason was 12 years old.
Jason Day was a former World Number 1 in the World Golf Rankings, having first achieved that position in September 2015.
Day debuted in the top ten in June 2011, rising to ninth after finishing second at the US Open.
In February 2014, he won the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship for the first time, and he would win it again in 2016.
