Parma, the newly promoted Serie A club, is close to finalizing a deal to bring Zion Suzuki from Sint-Truiden as their new starting goalkeeper.

Suzuki, a 21-year-old Japanese goalkeeper with Ghanaian roots, was previously linked with a move to Manchester United last summer, although the transfer did not materialize.

Sky Sport reports that negotiations are currently taking place between Parma and the Belgian club to agree on a transfer fee, which is expected to be in the range of 6 to 7 million euros, along with additional bonuses.

Despite interest from Genoa, who were looking for a replacement for Martinez, Parma appears to be leading the race to secure Suzuki’s services.

Suzuki, who impressed by keeping five clean sheets in 22 Pro League games last season, has garnered attention from clubs all over Europe. His consistent performances have made him a target for Parma as they prepare for the upcoming Serie A season.

Parma sees Suzuki as a valuable addition to their squad and are eager to secure his signature before the start of the new campaign.
