Who will testify on Thursday (June 23) during January 6 committee hearing?

The House select committee looking into the Capitol insurgency on January 6 will hold its next hearing on Thursday at 1 p.m.

ET, focusing on how former President Donald Trump pressured then-Vice President Mike Pence not to count lawful electoral votes.

On Thursday, two witnesses will testify in person.

Who will testify on Thursday (June 23) during January 6 committee hearing?

Rep. Liz Cheney, the top Republican on the subcommittee, said in a video previewing the hearing that it will focus on Trump’s “relentless push” to prevent the votes from being tallied.

Former Vice President Mike Pence’s lawyer, Greg Jacob. Blocking or delaying the certification of electoral votes would be a breach of federal law, Jacob wrote in a note to Pence the day before the attack on January 6.

Eastman, a legal counsel to Trump, lobbied for rejecting the ballots, writing two critical documents to Pence about how to assist Trump stay in office.

Michael Luttig is a conservative lawyer and former federal judge.

Eastman had clerked for a retired judge who provided legal advice to Pence and his team, which the vice president later used to publicly denounce Trump’s attempts to overturn the election results.

NPR.org will broadcast the hearing beginning at 1 p.m. ET. All of the hearings will be broadcast live on NPR as part of a special event.
