Janis Joplin was an American singer and musician born in Port Arthur, Texas, United States. She was a talented singer who was considered one of the most successful and widely-known rock stars of her era. She was noted for her powerful mezzo-soprano vocals and “electric” stage presence.
She passed away on October 4, 1970. She was found dead on the floor of her room at the Landmark Motor Hotel by her road manager and close friend John Byrne Cooke. She died at the age of 27.
