Jane McNeill-Balter, professionally known as Jane McNeill, is an American theater, film, and television actress best known for her recurring role as Patricia in The Walking Dead’s second season.
McNeill grew up in Columbus County, North Carolina, in Whiteville. Her parents are John McNeill and Margaret Powell McNeill. McNeill originally became interested in theater and performing while he was in the sixth school.

She graduated from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, although she began taking theatrical studies during her sophomore year.
Following graduation, she interned at the Arkansas Repertory Theater in Little Rock and attended the Eugene O’Neill Theater Center in Connecticut.
McNeill worked as an actor in Wilmington, North Carolina, for a year before moving to Kentucky and joining a repertory theater for six months.
McNeill relocated to Chicago, Illinois, in 1990 to study acting and theater. According to her, she “spent eight years performing theater and serving tables.”
McNeill returned to school and graduated with a master’s degree in education from DePaul University. She taught acting and English in the Chicago area until 1999 when she moved back to North Carolina.
